It seems like it's been a long time since I have agreed with any bills passed by states. Just this summer Florida, Kentucky and Missouri passed bills that require welfare applicants to be drug tested. The post above is pretty entertaining due to the fact that some people are saying it's unconstitutional. Interesting to me cause I have to be drug tested to work... I highly expect the people my tax dollars support to have to be tested as well. I'm not down with paying for someone else's drug addiction, if I'm paying for drugs I better be taking them ;-)

I know I shared with you all about this little boy once before. To refresh your memory, he has EB and lives in a town near by. The company we work for helped raise money for him last winter and several of us ran in a 5k to help raise money for his medical expenses. The reason for this post is that I would like you all to read some of his stories. His mom does a great job of writing about all the people that are helping them and it is really amazing to see so many people doing good things. Seeing as Jason and Ashley are really the only ones that read my blog I think the two of you will be really touched, having and expecting kids of you own. It is heartbreaking to read and see some of the things he has to go through but it makes me so grateful that Rylee and Reagan are healthy kids and that Ryan is developing so well. So, if you get a chance, please check him out. He has a really amazing story.

Long Day

I've had a long day. Work was different today than usual but it's almost over! I was really looking forward to being transferred and everyday I am here I wish more and more that I had. There is an up side... Since I know I will be here for a while I was able to start getting things ready that I like to do. I now have an office, painting supplies, books and city league volleyball is coming around! I can't wait. I hope you all had a great day.

I think I have some cabin fever! I'd really like to have a week or two to get away and get some stuff in order. I have a task list on my computer that's been continually growing for 9 months... I'll start calling it my baby, it's growing so quickly.

I am planning on getting a new car, having two cats in Hammond is definitely not working for us. Luckily, Dad agrees that I should. Not because we have to share the cars with our crazy schedules but he feels like I'm going to drive the tiny thing into the back of a truck. Seriously, I have no idea what makes him think this crap up (no comments).

Seems like karma was a little angry, as soon as we decided how we would deal with the car trading/keeping, she let loose her fury on the poor thing. Not too bad though... The parking lot has a bully that has scratched/dented all the way the passenger side of the car. I'll include photos. The back passenger window was also a victim, at some point something hit the window etching the glass. At least it's not broken. Last victim was my poor fog lights, people say it may have been rocks from other cars but that's crap. Someone had to have kicked them in. They are deep set and a plastic like shield, not glass. They are also not the only fog lights to have been busted out and that is confirmed to not be a rock. The worse is a brand new red truck, keyed twice down the passenger side. FYI, if you come to visit, get a taxi.

Other than the car situation I still need a vacation! Money is seemingly overrated by the day. It's getting harder to stay motivated but I'm trying. I know if I quit I would immediately regret it... Well, after a few weeks anyway. Luckily, we should be here for a lot longer. Bittersweet, like all other aspects of this job. Today's not too bad though, I can see outside through the door!! I'm sure it'll close soon :-(

Enough complaining. We are doing good out here in the sticks compared to other people. At least I have a job! Hope you are all doing good, and Ash, you better make up for not having Tea on Tuesday! Jason and Rhonda, you can pick. Update your blog or I'll have to come visit. Sounds nice but I don't get time off, therefor, I'd be more like moving in.

Me and Colby are at the game in LA. We are really tired and look a little funny. It's fun though! Our seats are in the nose bleeds. Pretty steep up here. We'll be headed back east tomorrow.

Update on life

Nick came over from Hawaii for Thanksgiving. We ate with mom and dad and watched the Cowboys and Saint's play. Speaking of sports a few weeks ago I went to the Mavs vs. Hornets. Sadly I fell at the game and knock the crap out of my knee. It's been three weeks and I still have bruises... but hey, I didn't spill my beer!

Since I last updated this I have moved. I was living in a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom two story house with a garage. It had a super huge kitchen that I never used. I also had awesome brown rusty water. I may not pay for housing but I'll be damned if I stay somewhere I don't like. I moved downtown into a three story loft-ish style apartment. I love it. It used to be a theater. My unit consists of the ticket booth and projection room. I'll have to post pictures soon.

It's been pretty cold off and on here lately. Every time I start to think how bad it sucks I check the weather in Lubbock and New York... It snaps me back into liking this weather.

Paul Adcock is on his way here right now to take some classes for Worley. He was here once before and we had a lot of fun. Hopefully I won't be too busy to take him out on the town.

Lastly, I am training to run for Trot for Tripp. He is a local baby that has EB. It's a very sad story and my coworkers are helping raise money for his family. The run is next Saturday and we have a lot of bets in the office for who's team representative will win. My team has raised around $1000, that's one of 11 teams. I'll let you know how the run goes.

I'm looking forward to seeing most of you that read this at Christmas. I'll be in Texas the 25th and part of the 26th. A quick trip but I am definitely looking forward to it..

Mowed my yard

Today was the first mowing of the year. It wasn't really needed but it
looks great now.

For you people that don't want to mow your own yard.... You
specifically brown people... ;-). I would highly recommend getting a
self propelled lawn mower. Fabulous! Takes about 30 minutes to mow
our front, back and side yard, which is pretty big. And it gives you
a baller ab and delt workout.

Food Poisoning

Colby always says I get sick cause I eat moldy foods. I cut around the
mold, usually. I took a chance last night on some free eggs that the
cook thought seemed a little funny. Turns out they were a little
funny. I feel like death.

April is stupid this year. The whole month seems to be making fun of me.

I got my window replaced but my car was returned with issues, the door
didn't lock, the alarm didn't work and the dome light wouldn't turn off.

Tonight the electricity went out at work so I got to make food from
ice packed pans instead of the usual freezers. It was horribly messy.

I came home, took a shower and headed to bed. Good thing my floor is
soaked with water... I was almost going to have a relaxing night.

This is the second time my room has flooded and I believe 4th that
something in our house was soaked. At least my room isn't covered in
poop water like Colbys.

And our fence blew down in one part.

I'm no longer feeling angry or sad about all this. It's like a small
adventure to see what's next. NOT! I need a vacation... and a
computer, tooth, sleep... I'm looking forward to May.

We are getting tons of rain. I've really enjoyed it now that my car
has a window again. (thanks dad!) Our backyard has tons of plants all
over the fence and it's exciting to watch them fill in. I'll send some
pictures of the house after we mow for tge first time this year!

I had a great couple of months but Lubbock is taking a big dump on my
head!

Sounds nasty but it's the only way I can express how I feel about
what's been happening lately.

Other than my dead computer, my tooth is even more broken, my doctor
revoked my adderal perscription and tonight... Leaving work my car was
broken into. I have had it for about 8 months. Nothing was stolen,
my nasty work shoes were all that were inside and they left them there.

This was only made worse by the fact that I don't have a drivers
license and may or may not be admiring to a warrart for not completing
my ticket process.

Curses. This day sucks.

Oh! I lost my competition last week after my computer broke.

Summer needs to hurry.

I've decided to take a quick break from my project tonight and let you all know how bad all nighters blow. Heavens, this is the second week in a row that I'm not getting any sleep.

I give a 20 minute presentation tomorrow, catch a quick nap and I'm off again to Ruidoso with Colby to get in some snowboarding before the snow is gone. I think Brint (Blake's little brother) is going to go with us.

We would like to have time to go to Santa Fe and invite Ashley and Blake (it's the half way point between us). There is no way it's going to happen this trip with me and Colby making rent off of weekend shifts.

I'll be sure to take a camera on this trip and get yall some pictures and maybe a few video's. It's so much fun.

Interesting few weeks

I'd have to say this year has been pretty awesome so far up until a few weeks ago. Most days I wake up, go to yoga, go to class, work,class again then back to work. Sounds horrible but I really enjoy always having something to do. It makes the time here in Lubbock go by so much faster.

The first two months of this semester flew by and spring break is almost here. Of course, I couldn't just have nothing mess up so here is my funny story.

I was drinking out of a straw and hit the end on my tooth... It broke. So I'm once again a hillbilly. That same day I got caught at work and missed my first exam in my slopes and drainage class. Luckily I get to make it up. With all the rain and snow, my outdoor classes have been cancelled so many times that we are now having to stay until 4:50 everyday. That would be fine but I work at 3:00. I'm not sure how this is going to work out just yet.

As for the best part, I was playing volleyball at the rec and fell pretty hard. Being used to the small pain that follows I thought nothing of it. A short while later I felt like my lower arm and hand were going to explode. I went to the Tech doc (for free) and they took x-rays. Turns out I had broken my wrist. I have a temporary cast thing and go to a real doctor tomorrow morning. It doesn't hurt too bad unless I swing my arm, hit something with it or pick things up. My thumb is numb but I'm sure it's just jammed from falling. I was told once the swelling went down I would get a real hard cast but I can't work with one of those on. I'm hoping that they will give me some more options so that I can keep working. School is going to be a little more difficult with a hand out of commission but I'm going to get through that.

On a happy note, my hair is getting long! and I've been doing better at running since I started yoga. There is a huge difference in the mobility of my right and left leg but the right one is catching up quickly. All my scars are healed and I can feel most of my skin on my left leg. With the scares on the right leg I'm not really expecting the numbness to go away. It doesn't bother me anyway.

Other than this little hiccup of a few weeks this semester and year are off to a great start. I'm almost done with my first big project of the semester.
I'll be sure to post some pictures of it.

Graphic Project- This Is War

If you feel the urge to look start with a glance. I don't want to hear any bull about how nasty this may be. It's real images and turned out to make a fantastic project.

This was created as an abstract version of a song of my choice. I chose This is War by Smile Empty Soul.

The main photograph is of my friend Marc that I met in Hawaii. The other images are from NowThatsF***edup.com which is now closed do to obscene images.... The last image is just the under side. Please be aware that they are very graphic before you look closely.

A lot of the images have children, dead people, intense injuries and deformities from gas. It was really sad to sort through these images and select the ones I thought were not too bad to show at school. These aren't even close to being as bad as some of the others.

The project is printed on 16x16 photo paper and mounted to foam board. The top image is burned to allow a sneak peek of what lies behind the men at war, what they have seen and lived through.

Do let me know what y'all think about the project.

I'm working on a new project that is due tomorrow. This is a heads up. It is extremely graphic and should be glanced at before really looked at. It's an abstract view of a song of my choice. I chose This is War by Smile Empty Soul. I've always liked the song but I think I may have ruined it for myself with new memories of what war is really like.

It's been really interesting to see some of these images knowing that several of my friends have been there, are there and will be returning there. I can't imagine the strength it takes to live in an area like these people do. I am proud of those I know over there but I am so thankful that my brothers and sister have not had to serve in conditions like these.

To Blake, I know you have chosen a path that requires a lot of strength as well and I'm so proud to say you are part of my family.

iPhone

I still have the original iPhone. It's slower than the new ones but mine is super sturdy. The top button got jammed in when it fell out of my pocket a while back so I took it apart and disabled the button. I can't turn off my phone or the screen and the only way to let it reboot or whatever is to let it die.

Today me and Colby went to eat and when I pulled my phone out of my bag it looked like this. I have the other piece so I'll probably glue it back on. Everyone keeps telling me to get a new phone but it's been so good for so long I really want to keep it till it just doesn't work anymore.

It's been a pretty good investment! Also, I don't have a protector or screen cover and it's not really scratched up. If you don't already have an iphone I would highly suggest getting one. Clearly they can take a lot. (It was also in my car wreck).

School is coming to an end quickly. I have 6 test and three projects due. I'm counting them down as they pass. Tomorrow I'll be down to five test around 12p.m. It's going to be amazing.

I got scheduled off work for an entire week somehow, apparently since I asked to work extra over the holiday I got this week off to make up for my time. LAME! What I wanted was the extra hours to get ahead a little, now I'm missing holidays and breaking even.

I'll post some images of my final projects. They are huge and pretty cool looking.

I forgot to post my birthday blog, but better late than never.

I came home to Flowers and a Glass full of cookies that I normally steal from my roommate... hehe. Those were gone pretty fast but the yellow roses are still kicking. That night I had a city league volleyball team and my friend Laura brought me two balloons, a huge bag of starburst (also gone) and the team gave me a big box of brownies. After all the delicious treats mother nature gave me love handles. UGH! Jenae brought me the a sweet kicks in the picture below! I think I've worn them everyday so far. They are fuzzy and warm inside! Perfect for campus.

I went out that night with my friends and Colby for a little while. It was a fun night and the band played happy birthday for me.

It was a pretty cool birthday.

I had plans to dress as toad from Mario for Halloween but I ended up having to work a double. I didn't want to wear that head piece all day at work. I ended up going as an Umbrella Corp. worker instead (from a zombie video game and movie, Resident evil).
After work I went to a party with my friends and lots of co workers. It was a lot of fun and man, some people go nuts for Halloween. I ended up calling it a night pretty early, I had another double today. This weekend flew by.

This past month has flown by. Between class and work I don't have much time for anything else. Sadly, this includes working out. I have been losing muscle mass in a hurry :-( luckily I'm not getting fat just yet. I am planning on starting a hardcore workout this week. Started it yesterday but already can't complete it tonight, I have a test early in the morning. I'll be sure to let y'all know if it gets going. Hopefully my this late fall I'll be able to pick up some jobs in Dallas, depending on my leg healing (I can't believe how long this is taking, it's coming up on three months since the wreck).

New Life

Hey guys! I haven't been able to blog since we do not have internet at our new house yet. A lot has been going on lately and I've been missing out on talking to most of you so here is an update.

School starts tomorrow... bleh! I'll be in class everyday from 8-5. Not sure what I was thinking when I signed up for that. I also got another job so I will be working 7 days a week. Every evening I go to work at 5:30, Saturday and Sunday I work at both places, basically pulling double hours but at different locations.

I should be able to save a lot of money seeing as my hours will double and my time to spend money will be shrinking. I'm looking forward to the structure offered by these crazy hours. It will be a lot different than the past two years of my crazy life.

Also, my phone recently broke :-( I was able to take it apart and fix it but shortly after another issue came up and the screen doesn't work, aka don't call me. If you need to get a hold of me try email. I'll be buying a new phone shortly after I pay rent and my new car payment. Man life sounds bad right now but its surprisingly enjoyable.

I've started working out and it's not been easy. I am still having a lot of issues with my hip and knees. I am going to the doctor next week and will have a better idea of what is going on. As for the open leg wound, it is still there. Bleeding all over my stuff! Stupid leg seems like it will never heal. Although, when I compare it to older pictures it has changed quite a bit. I'm thinking in the next two months it will probably be closed or getting close to it. If not, it will be my date to Thanksgiving and you can all meet it. It is going to leave one nasty scar for sure. I've been getting injections in it to keep the scar from growing outward like my arm. We'll see if that pays off.

One last update, I was able to go to the river with some friends last weekend and I'll post some fun pictures later when I have an other chance. I had a great time floating and being the DD all weekend. It gives you an excuse to tell people what to do, "Get IN THE CAR!" haha

Moving on

I've had what feels like a lot of down time after the wreck. When you can't get around well the day seems to go on so long. I'm starting to hate the TV and comfy chairs... strange I know.

Luckily it is time to move on. I'm going to be back at work at the French Quarter, living in a house with Colby and my friend Christie, and going back to school. Just last month I had decided to do all this and then my dreams were shattered by the wreck and the loss of income. Since I couldn't work, I didn't think I would be able to go to school. I went ahead and applied for FAFSA and they are going to be paying for my school! Whoohoo!

This puts me back on track and once I get all healed and able to workout again I'll go back to work modeling a few times a month for extra money.

I'm glad to share with you all that things are finally sorting themselves out. Man, I have had one crazy year!

My Wreck

Here are the pictures from the wreck I had two days ago. And here's the story....

I was driving to Lubbock as usual and following a car going over the speed limit. Do to the time of day I had the sun visor down, which meant I could really only see the car immediately in front of me. I know this is a huge mistake but I that is what I was doing.

I was putting away my sunglasses and noticed from the corner of my eye that the car in front of me quickly swerved to the other lane. As I looked up I was already so close to the parked convoy that I couldn't do anything. I turned slightly to the left, dodging I suppose and drilled into the back of the truck.

Although it was horrible to hit a vehicle, I am really glad that this is the one I hit. If it had of been any other truck this story would have a way different ending. This is not what the truck looks like anymore.

The work convoy is owned by a family in Childress, TX. They buy the most expensive safety equipment and it really pays off. The back of the truck has a buffer of some sort. It helps decrease the impact of a car wrecking into the rear of the crew.

Immediately after the wreck the crew members were at my car, yelling to see if I was alive. They soon cut away the air bags and were extremely nice to me. They gave me water, the wife washed my face and bloody arms. They were trying to keep me as calm and comfortable as possible. I think they did a great job.

It took about 10 minutes for the EMS to arrive and get me out of the car. I was rather crunched in the drivers seat so it was an interesting task.

The dash had been forced toward me and down, slamming into my knees and shins. My right foot was crunched between the gas pedal and the center part of the car which was now in the drivers floor board. I had twisted left at impact so my hip and belly took most of the blow from the seat belt. Plenty of markings came from that. The air bag had burned my right bicep pretty bad and left it really sore and bruised. My right hand and elbow (that I put in front of my face) hit the windshield that now lays on the steering wheel. I hit the right side of my head on the rear view mirror and the top of my head on the visor, leaving little mirror slivers in my hair.

The guy in the picture is quite a bit smaller than me. You can see how tight of a squeeze I was in.

The EMS people put me in a neck brace, on a stretcher and gave me oxygen. I was taken to Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, about a 20 minute ride. On the way I was given an IV and had my clothes cut off. He called in the wreck saying I had low blood pressure and a low pulse (I later informed him that I usually had lower read outs so he changed that), lower limb lacerations, exposed shin bone, possible internal bleeding from seat belt.... he also included I drove an SUV into a parked turk going over 70 mph. When I arrived at the hospital no one realized I was the one in the wreck. They were waiting for something horrible.

The nursing staff quickly passed around the photo's the convoy crew had taken. Everyone told me how lucky and blessed I was to be alive and in such good condition. I had CAT scans and X-rays and was released with only patches and an orthoboot for my right leg. No Complaints from me!

The past two days have been interesting. My soreness is incredible. It hurts to sneeze and laugh, walking feels like fire, and my joints ache. Just an observation... I'm happy to be alive. It will be a while before I can workout again, walking is getting better but it is no easy task. I am hoping to be able to jog at least in 6 weeks, depending on the pain in my knee's.

I am still picking glass out of my hand, I think I'll be doing this for a while. I clean and re-wrap my wounds twice a day. I am hoping that I don't scare too badly. I think to wish for no scars is a waste of time. I'm missing quite a bit of flesh.

I spent the weekend in Dallas working. It was exhausting and long awkward hours. I really enjoyed the people I saw and had a chance to see a few old friends in between jobs.

Last week we headed to Dallas for my interview at a new agency there. The interview went great and I am trying to fulfill my part of the contract and shed some pounds. So far it hasn't been too bad but I am meeting with my trainer tonight to get a plan for the next month.

While we were in Dallas we spent some time with Jason, Rhonda and the girls. I have some fun pictures of Colby playing with the girls and a lot of pictures of him with the ukulele. I think he likes it more than they do.

Rhonda brought the girls down for her Grandmother's birthday in Whiteface. We were able to visit with them all and play with the girls a lot. They seem to have had a good time. I have a lot of pictures to share with you all but it is really late so I will only post a few. Check back for the other pictures and video clips.

Dallas for New Years

I went to Dallas for New Years! I had a great time with my friends and visiting with a lot of people I had not seen in a while. The weather was fantastic and made me question living in New York for a second... Why couldn't I have been selected by a warm climate agency.

Unfortunately I watched the Cotton Bowl and was very disappointed with the outcome. Around 3rd quarter I went to Jason and Rhondas house to finish the game and say hi. I had a great time playing with the girls. Getting back to Lubbock was a long ride but I had a great time with my friends last night. Everything in Lubbock is changing quickly and a lot of my friends have moved away. I will be spending some more time here getting ready for the biggest work month of the year. I will be slimming down, resting, and getting rid of this cough!

As for the cough, I saw two doctors and completed there treatments but the only change is that the cough has gotten worse. I am looking forward to the day I can lay down and sleep all night. I dont feel sick I am only annoyed with the lack of sleep and the irritability that comes with it. Ill keep you all updated on what happens over the next few days and when I get headed back to New York. As of now I am not sure how soon I will be going but I will be there for sure before February begins.

Howdy!

I am getting ready to head back to Texas for two weeks. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and I have a lot to do while I am home.

Besides Christmas with the best family ever, I will be visiting old friends and have three shoots scheduled in the two weeks. These two weeks are also being devoted to a very strict workout plan and some much needed 'trimming' if I want to keep my career going.

I am going to miss New York for the two weeks I am gone but a break sounds really good. Here are a few pictures of me and my friends over the past few days.

SNOW!

I was going out to dinner with friends last night and when we left the house it was snowing. Huge flakes, nothing like Texas snow. It wasn't sticking but it was really thick and very beautiful. It didn't feel very cold outside so we were able to enjoy it. It snowed some this morning as well but now it is freaking freezing and windy. I thought my face was about to fall off when I went outside.

I had bought a jacket when I got here but when I come back from Texas I am going to have to get a way warmer coat. I will never survive with the one I have now.

I am still loving New York but really looking forward to visiting my family for Christmas. I've included photo's for your viewing pleasure. The photo at night has SNOW! The other is from Chipotle, Daniela had never been and refused to go until a boy invited us for lunch. Finally I got to eat there. I love it.

I am on my way to Bikrams Yoga this evening... I'm exhausted already. :-(

Mood Swings in New York

Mom had mentioned to me today that she could kind of tell my moods from my blog post. Apparently when I got here it was obvious that I was excited and then she could tell that I was a little down on life in the big city. Luckily she suspects from my current writing that I am once again happy.

It takes a while to adjust to life in different places. When I moved to Hawaii I loved it until Ashley went to Texas and then I spent countless hours texting Michelle in California about how lonely I was.

The same thing happened when I moved here. I starting thinking I was crazy for leaving my family and friends but when I think about it, I only have two people in Lubbock that I miss a lot. Everyone is gone and my life there is history.

New York is definitely the place for me to be right now and I am enjoying myself and learning a lot about who I am and who I want to be. I have great friends that are all so different from one another.

The people in New York are not from New York. I rarely run into people that were born here and therefore everyone has something else to bring to the table. Also, for the first time ever my life isn't revolving around sports. I miss that a little bit and I am joining a league in January so I will make a few volleyball friends.

I was explaining to my Lubbock friends that my new friends joke about different things. As opposed to immature jokes they have a sarcastic tone and often refer to things that I don't even understand. It's interesting to meet so many people that have a broader view on life than I do. It refreshing and I enjoy the humility it crams down my throat, haha, but really.

Yoga or torture?

Daniela recommended this yoga class and I had been looking for one anyway. I have been doing yoga off and on for a few years and it's never really been that hard until now. This class is an hour and a half and in a sauna. I have never sweat so much in my life. We have taken the class twice now, todays was hell. I had to pass a few of the poses to keep from passing out. Literally. They tell you before class not to worry about sitting out on a few to avoid passing out or throwing up. It was insane but I really feel great after the classes and I will probably keep doing them for the next few weeks. I'll let you know if there are any visible results.

As for other parts of my life here in New York I have met some really awesome people and have had a lot more fun than I ever expected. I really enjoy the city and the pace of life here. It's funny to go from Hawaii pace to New York pace and loving both of them but I do.

I am going to Hawaii in either January or really early February and I looking forward to that trip. The weather isn't too bad here yet but I hear around January it is horrible, I'll pass and go to the beach for a while.

An Evening At Home

Tonight I have decided to stay in for several reasons. I am already packed and don't want to get ready and I rarely get to spend time by myself. I am going to watch a show, read some of House of Leaves, and hope into bed early. I have a huge day for me tomorrow. I have been to several castings that I don't qualify for. I am a 4/6 dress size most people want a 2/4. Only about 10 lbs difference but enough to lose a job. I've had two designers remake clothes to keep me in their shows because they like my face and personality. So, good job mom and dad (and Dr. Potocki..haha).

This morning I woke up about 3 hours too early because it is so cold in here. I was told we had a heater but it turns out that this building doesn't have heat or AC. Good thing I can't stay here! I would freeze to death.

I am headed to Queens today for a photo shoot. I think he said I could have the images after the shoot so you should get to see some.

After this shoot I am going to watch the TTU vs OU game. I am pumped!! I am also going to stop by any store and buy a blanket! I'm looking forward to getting warm!

Wreck Em Tech

When I first came to New York I couldn't decide if I liked it and I missed home a lot. I still miss my family and friends but I'm done missing Lubbock. I guess I am starting to find my place here in the city. I am making a lot of friends and I am starting to be way more comfortable with myself in social settings. (Yea, I have social anxiety).

The past week or so Nestor has been in town hanging out with some friends. Luckily I have had the chance to tag along on some of his tourist adventures. It's been a lot of fun and we have had some crazy nights. We got to go check out the Apollo Theater in Harlem, Ice Skating in Bryant Park (getting huge blisters from the boots) and mixing up our friends. I took him to a club with VIP service... it was a funny night trying to get him in the cab and home safely.

Also we met Mobi. haha

Random Life Issues

Today has been a hard day. In fact the past few days have been really challenging and I am not sure what is going to happen. I did get a new job that is fabulous. I will tell you all more about it later. I will be working with great new people and traveling even more than I thought. Modeling has turned out to be great in that area.

Not so great is the fact that I am running out of options of finding a place to comfortably live. To get a lease in New York you have to have credit worthiness of 40 X the monthly rent. I do not have that! The other option is to pay the years rent upfront... around $30-40,000 for a cheap studio apartment. I also don't carry that in my pockets :-) So my options now are to be homeless or be homeless!

I am not staying with the agency that brought me to New York, like I said, I got a better offer from someone else. Monday I am going in to discuss getting my new bosses to help me with the living situation. I will not live with other people again (druggies) and I will not live somewhere without being on the lease. I have been in both of the situations and both times I ended up getting locked out with nowhere to go.

I am still glad I made the move out here and that I have this job but I cannot wait for the day I have a place to go and relax, a bed to sleep in and a freaking blanket! One day! I have hope.

Changing the subject...I like to read Jason and Rhonda's friends blog called The Life Of Titus, his birthday is coming up and I must say that kid is amazing and everyone should read their blog. It's so encouraging and his dad does a great job of writing. I love how much hope they have even though they face so many challenges. I can't help but notice how small my issues are and see how great families really are for one another.

I'm looking forward to Christmas at home more and more everyday! I can't wait to see you all.

Family

Living so far from home has given me a chance to reflect on myself, my choices and my mistakes. It's been an adventure but I cannot help but think of the things I have done and the results that have come from my choices. Not all are bad but today my thoughts were with my family and their importance. As a result I am writing this blog to share with you all how I feel.

If I were to go back I cannot say I would change anything. I learn from my actions and I am grateful for everything I have experienced. However I would like to have been more open with you all. Now I live so far away and it makes it a little harder but it is never to later to tell you all how much I love and miss you.

After Ashley posted a blog about me with the Dave Matthews Song I thought it was time I said something. I am really looking forward to seeing you at Christmas. I told Mom I did not care about getting anything to unwrap I just want to be home for a while.

I felt the same way when I was in Hawaii but I had Ashley there and she made all the difference in the world. Now I am here and although I am meeting people it is hard to fill the void with damn Yankee's. I meet a lot of superficial people and do to my career I meet a lot of people who assume I have nothing more to talk about than fashion and gossip. It is exhausting making friends rather than fun and interesting like in the past.

Hopefully I will be able to find a few hobbies around town and meet people with similar interest. If only I had that kind of time. I cannot complain to much though, I was warned before I came that I would not make a lot of friends and to not expect to date at all. It makes more sense every day.

I will not make this too long. I just really want you to all know how much I love you and how this would not have been possible without your support. Also, I cannot thank Mom and Dad for the tremendous amount of help they have given me since I arrived.

Again, I love you all and you are in my thoughts and prayers everyday.

My Eye Ball! This is really amazing because the camera used has not been released yet. It is smaller than Jason's and as you can see it picks up the smallest details. It is really amazing and cost about $30,000. A little out of my price range, I'll stick with my Canon PowerShot.

I like this below photo. That's the only reason I posted it.

This is some random photo. You can see what everything really looks like and how the lighting is created. It's all very small and random stuff is used but the results are generally amazing.

Catering For Models

I meant to upload these photo's a long time ago. I thought that I had but then I found them again and realized that I hadn't.

These are photo's of a typical meal at a show. Models are required to have access to healthy food and lots of it. There isn't a lot of time to sleep so taking in a lot of calories is one of the few ways to maintain energy.

This food is always delicious and I can honestly say one of the best perks of the job.

I've also included a photo of back stage hair time. It's pretty fun too and they always have a bucket of candy right beside you. I'm not sure how models don't balloon up! ha

Also, no need to worry! I am in my apartment and will be staying here for a long time. At least a year. It's nice to have a place I can count on being available when I return!

I do have roommates but they don't do drugs and keep to themselves. They have been really nice and let me move in early. I will be crashing in the living room until Monday, my birthday, and then I will move into a room.

I will be switching rooms in December. The one I am taking now has windows along the ceiling and the other has a wall of windows that open.

I will be on the 14th floor and I am super excited about getting settled. I'll be sure to post pictures after I get everything sorted.

New Apartment...

I think I have found a new place to live. It has all the same good things about my last place. A gym, roof deck, security guy, grocery store, laundry... It is with more girls but living in New York alone is going to take a lot more time and savings.

I am hoping that I can move in this weekend. I'm not sure about the financial part. The agency wants me to have a lease before they will pay me but the apartment wont give a new lease for a month. Basically I need some cash to appear magically over night. I may be brushing off the old bar tending skills here for a while.

Sex in the City

I love Sex in the City and I have new thoughts on why such an article could exist in New York. The men here are crazy. I've had a guy's drop thousands of dollars on me for basically nothing. Some where gay and said they like having pretty girls around cause it draws hot guys.

My favorite guys are on the subway. They stare from across the train and always "just happen" to be needing the same stop as you. Then they find something funny to say and talk to you for several minutes, ask for your number or try to give you theirs. Sounds normal... but there's one catch.

Why is their hand always in their pocket!?!

Me and some friends have started checking out their hands from across the train. Every time they have been married men! This has happened to me 4 times, in the short time I have been here. Married men asking for your number. It's disgusting.

I stopped in a diner the other morning and ate breakfast alone at the bar. The guy a few seats down paid for my meal and left his number. He had on a wedding band. He came to talk to me and said, "You're either sad or celebrating" I replied with, "I like pancakes" and returned to eating my free meal.

Even if he was just paying to be kind I would kick my husbands ass if he bought a younger lady's food and left his number.

Anyway, I'm sure dating in the city would be a trip, a trip I am not about to take. I don't doubt that a good article could come from it.

New York Hardships

So with all things in life you have to take the good with the bad. New York is full of these two things to the extreme. Everything was going great so it's only right that something go wrong...

My roommate from Hell!

In Lubbock rent was paid in cash, here it requires cash, drugs and sex, with the occasional lock out of course.

I went to meet with my roommate in Tribeca to get to know each other better, but my roommate was not alone. I was told I would be joining in on a three-some to help pay off debt. It was required if I was going to remain in my room. Although they have no real power in doing this I didn't have keys and ended up getting locked out for the second time.

I had an interesting conversation with this guy. He tossed my hair around on my head and touched my face in a pull you to kiss me kind of way. Much to his surprise my super bitch came out. He was given a fair warning to not touch me. His reply was I'll do what I want. I quickly snapped back with you wont touch me again.

Mr. Drug lord got pretty pissed off at that point and said he'd touch whoever he wanted, I sassily stated he could try and then I'd be touching him with the buck knife in my pocket. (For real, I carry a knife everywhere and I will cut a bitch).

A lot of loud cussing from him was heard all throughout the restaurant/bar. I didn't cuss and I kept my cool, in fact I had a slight grin the entire time, I was just waiting to cut this hoe...

Anyway, he stormed out dragging the girl behind. They reminded me not to expect to get in the apartment and and pack my *bleeping* Bleep* and get out.

Fine by me, the next day after work I packed my bags and left. Talk about two people who don't know how lucky they are that I have calmed down in the past few years.

Unfortunately the model rooms and hotels are packed with people for several events going on right now. I am staying in a hostel/hotel type of thing. It is pretty cool. I share a kitchen and bathroom with 3 other people. Everyone is from other countries and really laid back. It's been a cool place and it's in a really nice neighborhood. I'll be here a few days while my agency finds a place to stick me. I don't mind being here at all. It's quiet clean and doesn't have any drug whores.

Back to that night... It was about 1 am when all this happened. I was talking to Mom and trying to figure out what to do. I was playing on my phone and posted that it was a bad night and my friend Daniela saw it and sent me a text.

I ended up going to her house and staying the night! Thank goodness, I don't know what I would have done without her.

I did get a free beer from the bar keep, and met a few people who saw all this going down. I had a few offers for couches to crash on and a defense lawyer gave me his card incase I went home and was forced to hurt someone. So, it was a bad night but had a lot of positive outcomes. I met good people, found out how good the people I know are and had the final push to leave a place I wasn't happy in.

I know most you you know that I sat by Kelly Clarkson but luckily I had my super non shy friend next to me. She asked Kelly Clarkson's parents to take a picture of the three of us. I'm not standing up straight at all, she is really REALLY little.

She was talking to us while we were sitting down and when she agreed to the photo we stood up. She said in a "oh crap" kind of voice, "Great. I'm going to look like an oompa loompa." It was pretty funny.

We saw her at Coy, we had gone to eat at a friends table. Kelly Clarkson was super nice to him and left him a huge tip! He was impressed with her kindness.

It's really fun to meet these people. They are all very nice and very generous. I've had people get me into New York hot spots, VIP lounges, totally dissed some famous rapper who was hitting on me, and drank a $2000 bottle of Champagne. All for free and with some amazing company.

The other models I have met have been both horrible and amazing. I've wanted to kill a few and have depended on others to save my ass. Check out my next blog to read how Daniela saved me.

I posted these backwards. It was a show for AG. It was a lot of fun and I met some pretty cool girls.

Our hair was supposed to look crazy at the end. It was a catwalk where we went from Midtown girls to downtown girls. I think it went pretty well.

I know these aren't the pictures you wanted to see but they're pictures. So don't complain!

Yesterday was an interesting day. I had a shoot with a very famous photographer. It's not fashion style photography but is often published in magazines. He has been published tons of times and has been on many covers. Anyway, he's not the story.

As we were walking around New York taking photo's at random places, such as Central Park, the photographer informed me that Dustin Hoffman was walking toward us. Then he continued...

"Dustin Hoffman is looking at you, he's looking at you, Dustin Hoffman is looking at you. "

Each time more and more excited.

Of course he was looking at me! Not cause I'm hot shit but I was walking around freezing New York without warm clothes, crazy make-up, and a photography crew. He was probably thinking, "who the hell is that?" But I can still say he saw me and I saw him! Booyah! haha

Another movie star moment.

I met a girl at a runway show the other day and she is an actress. She is also a dancer and is in the new Center Stage movie. I'm sure most of you have no idea what Center Stage is but me and Ashley have probably seen it over 100 times.

The movie came out last night and we went to the screening. One of the lead guys was there as well(The cocky blonde that sleeps around), most people went to the screening in L.A.

It was a lot of fun and I can now say I went to a screening with one of the actresses. New York is full of fun things like that.

Anyway, I am off to work. My feet hurt.

This is my new apartment. I hope you like it! It would be nice if I had spent more than 3 minutes in it. I've actually only made it back to sleep two nights. One was about 4 hours and then last night, which I slept for 14 hours! Gotta catch up somehow.

I've been wanting to blog more but I can never find the time. I have been all over NY and NJ. It has been a lot of fun and I have met some interesting and famous people.

I can't wait for some of my photo's to be released to me. I will let you all see them asap. Also, I will be recieving a video from a catwalk. I'm not sure if you will want to see that... I'm in some scandalous clothes.

Over all I am having a ton of fun. The work in long hours but not as hard as I expected. Even the cat walk wasn't too bad. I've done 2 now. I thought I would be nervous but once the music started it all worked out perfectly. I must be a natural... hehe.

Anyway, I will post some pictures of my fun and let you all see what is really going on back stage in the world of modeling.
